Do you think you know the Guild?

Well maybe you should think again!

 

 

We have been around for 125 years, and we are now an organisation of committed women and men with a global reach. We work alongside Project Partners, impacting on people in every continent of the world (except Antarctica) as well as in the UK. Guild members pray for, learn about and raise money for those marginalised by Society. We also support many local initiatives. The Guild reports to the General Assembly ensuring that the Church listens to what we have to say.

Locally we meet in Chapel Street, Carlisle, on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, from October to April, at 2pm. We extend an invitation to Church members, and non-Church members to join us and learn more about us --- and perhaps change perceptions of 'Guild'.

 

On Sunday May 11th at Whampray Church in the Presbytery of Annandale and Eskdale there was a celebration of the restored grave and  memorial stones of Archibald Charteris and family, founder of the Guild 127 years ago.  In attendance were the Guild National Convenor and leadership  Team, General Secretary of the National Guild, Members of the charteris Family, Representatives of both Life& Works and Diaconate which he founded and of course many Guild members.  Lorna Hood, the out-going Moderator of the Church of Scotland led worship.
